Meet JPT’s New Managing Director – Aurélien Claeyssen

JPT Peptide Technologies has appointed Aurélien Claeyssen as managing director, effective January 1, 2024. After 20 years of dedicated service, Holger Wenschuh is stepping down from his role. We welcome the French expert in peptide manufacturing and research to our peptide family in Berlin. 

Let’s get to know him! 

Hello Aurélien, welcome to JPT! Can you tell us a little bit about yourself, and your background and how you came to your new position as Managing Director of JPT Peptide Technologies? 

AC: Of course! I am originally from France and have 15 years of experience in the world of peptide production. I previously founded two companies specializing in peptide production and research. After completing my studies - I have both a Master's degree in Biotechnology and a Master's degree in Management - I founded my first company, where I was still involved in everything myself, from laboratory work to marketing, communication and sales. I have always had a strong connection to science and have a strong understanding of it. 

It was with great pleasure that I recently accepted the opportunity to join JPT as Holger Wenschuh's successor. I am very familiar with JPT as it is also a manufacturing company involved in peptide research. Therefore, it is a great opportunity for me to lead such a fantastic company. 

What are the most important objectives for you when managing a company? 

AC: I’ve always put the customer at the center of company’s objectives, with the goal of satisfying them on 3 main points: 

• Communication (we offer complex products to scientists, a high level of communication is mandatory) 
• Quality (making sure to deliver the correct product, which is not easy when producing so many peptides, it requires a very advanced quality management) 
• Flexibility (we are offering customized services and flexibility is essential to fit perfectly with the customers’s project). 

What do you see as JPT’s core strength? 

AC: JPT has 20 years of experience in peptide manufacturing and developed several proprietary technologies for high throughput synthesis of peptides. Based on this, the company has developed various services dedicated to immunology and proteomics including PepMix Peptide Pools covering antigens that have become the gold standard for T cell assays and therapies. With millions of peptides synthesized and the widest range of formats available, JPT offers unparalleled capabilities and expertise.

AC: Creative, enthusiast, entrepreneur.

How was your transition from Grenoble to Berlin? 

AC: I really want to thank the whole team at JPT for the warm welcome I received, which allowed me to rapidly integrate into the team (family ;-) ), projects and processes. Everyone has been very supportive despite my limited ability to speak Deutsch... Vielen Dank an alle! I am happy to be a part of the team.
