About Allergies

  • Hypersensitivity of the immune system to an allergen that usually causes little or no problem in most people (such as food allergy, hay fever, atopic dermatitis, allergic asthma, and anaphylaxis)
  • Allergens are pollen, certain foods, metals, insect stings, antibiotics and other agents
  • Involve immunoglobulin E antibodies (IgE) that trigger the release of inflammatory cytokines such as histamines by mast cells or basophils
  • Immunotherapy exposes the immune system to a gradually increased allergen, causing the immune system to become less sensitive

SpotMix™ Antigen Discovery Pools consist of overlapping & pooled peptides synthesized by our proprietary ultra-high throughput SPOT technology. SPOT peptides are synthesized in small amounts fully automated, quickly, at low cost and then pooled to span an entire antigen. SpotMix™ Pools are optimal for broad antigen target discovery.
