Quality Control in Custom Peptide Synthesis
Quality control is a cornerstone of our custom peptide synthesis process. After synthesis, each peptide undergoes routine analysis by LC-MS, MALDI-MS, or HPLC to confirm its identity and peptide purity. JPT provides a thorough analytical data sheet and corresponding raw data documentation with each custom peptide synthesis order. All documentation is meticulously double-checked and archived before leaving our facility. Our standard quality control includes LC-MS with ion trap, quadrupole, or TOF detection, MALDI-MS, or HPLC. We also offer a variety of optional Peptide Analysis Services, including Stability Testing, Peptide Content Determination, and Cell Toxicity Testing:
- AAA (amino acid analysis)
- Peptide sequence analysis (mass spectrometry)
- Residual solvent and water determination
- Solubility and stability testing
- Toxicity, sterility, endotoxin, and bioburden testing
- NMR (nuclear magnetic resonance)
- And many more!

The Science Behind Custom Peptide Synthesis
Custom peptide synthesis involves the creation of peptides by sequentially adding amino acids to a growing chain. This process can be performed using either solid-phase peptide synthesis (SPPS) or liquid-phase peptide synthesis (LPPS). SPPS, developed by Robert Bruce Merrifield, is the most commonly used method due to its efficiency and versatility. JPT adds an additional step, called capping, after each amino acid coupling. Capping prevents the formation of deletion sequences, which can lead to false positive results. For more information, please watch our capping video:
In addition to classic solid phase custom peptide synthesis, JPT uses SPOT synthesis, which allows the synthesis of hundreds of micro scale peptides in parallel. The resulting high-throughput peptides are fast and have the lowest custom peptide synthesis prices on the market.
