Adaptive Diagnostics for the De-Novo-Detection of Viral Pathogens for Preventing Epidemics (DetektiVir)
New and reappearing viral pathogens represent a serious thread for human and animal health. Examples are the recent ZIKA-virus outbreak in South America or the variants of avian influenza emerging periodically. Since no diagnostic assays are available for new viruses, fast development of such assays is a key element to the detection, control and containment of outbreaks of pandemics and epidemics.
Aim of the project is the development of a modular generic diagnostic workflow starting from suspicious samples to a serological assay for virus evidence. The workflow will be interconnected by a data management pipeline which will allow efficient data transfer between different functions as new generation sequencing, peptide libraries for the identification of serological markers and data from serological assays.
