Identify Epitope Resolved Antibody Responses with SARS-CoV-2 Peptide Microarrays

Published on 25/05/2021

Antibody response to SARS-CoV-2 plays an important role in protection against COVID-19 after an infection or vaccination. Therefore, reliable serological monitoring over time is instrumental in determining the success of vaccination in a population, tracking local outbreaks, and learning more about the disease.

Additionally, antibody cross-reactivity between SARS-CoV-2 and other human coronaviruses (HCoVs) has implications for immune protection and the development of specific diagnostic tests.

Profiling of antibody responses using peptide microarrays has been proven to be a powerful approach to allow epitope-resolved identification of selective antigen binders.

In a recent publication using JPT’s RepliTope™ Antigen Collection Pan-Coronavirus peptide microarrays which display the whole SARS-CoV-2 proteome as well as relevant common cold corona virus antigens, a widespread cross-reactivity was detected across immunodominant antigen regions. Importantly, a statistically significant discrimination between COVID-19 patients and controls could be achieved allowing selection of dedicated peptides for further development.
