Hantavirus Peptides for Virus Research
JPT Peptide Technologies provides custom peptide tools for hantavirus research,
including hantavirus antigen peptides, overlapping PepMix™ Peptide Pools,
peptide libraries, and immobilized peptide formats. These solutions support
studies of antigen-specific immune responses, T-cell activation, antibody binding,
epitope mapping, vaccine research, and viral protein interactions.
About Hantavirus Research
Hantavirus research focuses on zoonotic viruses belonging to the Hantaviridae family. They primarily infect rodent species and can occasionally be transmitted to humans through aerosols and droplets from rodent excretions.
The diseases caused by hantavirus species, as well as their associated fatality rates, vary considerately across different continents. Hantaviruses found in the Americas are associated with hantavirus cardiopulmonary syndrome, also known as HCPS or HPS, which can have a fatality rate of up to 50%, whereas Hantaviruses circulating in Europe and Asia are linked to haemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome, or HFRS, with reported fatality rates from 1 to 15%.
Peptide-based research tools can help scientists investigate hantavirus antigens, immune recognition, T-cell responses, antibody binding, viral protein function, and cross-reactivity between hantavirus strains.
The Andes Virus
The Andes virus responsible for the current outbreak, belongs to the American hantavirus group. It is unique among hantaviruses because it is the only known strain that can also spread from human to human through prolonged close contact.
JPT provides custom peptide solutions for Andes virus research, including antigen peptides, overlapping peptide pools, peptide libraries, and immobilized peptide formats. These tools can support studies of Andes virus immune recognition, T-cell epitopes, B-cell epitopes, serological responses, and vaccine candidate evaluation.
Featured Andes Virus Peptide Pool
PepMix™ Andes Orthohantavirus (Nucleoprotein) supports studies of antigen-specific T-cell activation, immune monitoring, cellular immune response profiling, and T-cell epitope identification using an overlapping nucleoprotein peptide pool.

Hantavirus Genome and Structure
The hantavirus genome consists of single-stranded negative-sense RNA segmented into three parts (named small, medium and large based on their size), each encoding a protein.
- RNA-dependent RNA polymerase (RdRp), involved in transcription and replication
- Spike glycoprotein precursor, cleaved into surface proteins
- Nucleocapsid protein N, responsible for viral RNA binding
- In some hantaviruses: non-structural protein inhibiting interferon

Hantavirus Antigen Peptides
Hantavirus-specific antigen peptides represent individual immunodominant epitopes of hantavirus species. Presented by MHC molecules at the cell surface, antigen peptides are recognized by circulating lymphocytes, triggering antigen-specific immune responses. We offer customized hantavirus antigen peptides for antigen-specific immune response profiling. Select the specifications that best fit your project!

Hantavirus proteins can be represented by overlapping PepMix™ Peptide Pools for antigen-specific T-cell stimulation in T cell assays such as ELISpot, ICS, cell-mediated and cytotoxicity or proliferation assays. Customize your peptide pools according to your experimental requirements and assay design.

Peptide Libraries
JPT provides flexible hantavirus peptide libraries for applications ranging from small-scale screening projects to ultra-large collections of up to 1 million peptides. Available modifications include cyclization, phosphorylation, labels and dyes. Take advantage of our automated fill & finish options to acquire aliquots.
