Absolute quantified peptides or AQUA peptides are used as internal references or peptide standards (absolute quantified reference peptides) for protein quantification (protein quantitation) in mass spectrometry-based proteomics, e.g. for selected reaction monitoring (SRM), multiple reaction monitoring (MRM) and parallel reaction monitoring (PRM).
